Your Diet

Eat a well-balanced diet. Increase your intake of fruits and vegetables. Avoid foods that are processed and reduce your intake of foods taht are high in fat, sodium, and sugar.

Sleep

You should sleep 6 to 8 hours per day. This will help your body replenish itself and gives your body time to rebuild its cells. Lack of sleep make you feel tired and affect your eating habits. Adequate sleep is essential for your overall health and well-being.

Group Exercise

Group exercise classes provides you with an excellent opportunity to train in a fun and social environment. The Tempe YMCA offers a number of group exercise classes for all ages and abilities that are included in the membership. Classes are taught by qualified, creative instructors that care about the individual.

- For Social Responsibility -

Strong Kids and Families campaign

The Tempe YMCA is dedicated to positively impacting our communities through three important areas of focus: Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility. As a contributor to the YMCA Strong Kids and Families Campaign, you can take pride in supporting an organization that is committed to making a difference and changing the lives of children and families who are in need of help.

The month of February marks the start of our Strong Kids and Families Campaing push. This year, the Tempe YMCA is looking to raise $202,000 to benefit children and families in the Tempe area. For many children, you contribution means they will experience the great outdoors for the first time. For some, it means they will have a place to go after school. Whatever it may be, your donation, regardless of the size of the gift, enables the Tempe YMCA to enrich and expand ongoing work with young people in our Tempe community.

YMCA's Diabetes Prevention Program

The YMCA's Diabetes Prevention Program helps those at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes adopt and maintain healthy lifestyles and reduce their chances of developing diabetes by more than half.

In a group setting, a trained lifestyle coach helps participants change their lifestyle by learning about healthy eating, physical activity and other behavior changes over the course of 16 one-hour sessions. After the initial 16 sessions, participants meet monthy for added support to help maintain their progress.
