All YMCA Youth Sports programs are based on the YMCA’s “Everybody Plays, Everybody Wins!” philosophy. No matter what your child’s age or ability, he or she will learn character values, sportsmanship, and valuable new skills as a member of YMCA Youth Sports:

  • We use a child-appropriate curriculum, sensitive to the needs and abilities of individual participants.

  • We focus on the fundamentals of the game. YMCA Youth Sports is a progressive program, with multiple levels of play. What’s more, every child gets to participate. Our games are safe, exciting and fun. We encourage positive competition, family involvement and even strive to match children of similar abilities. And we never forget that this program is for the kids, so we let them enjoy themselves.

  • We combine the YMCA’s philosophy of fair play, teamwork and inclusiveness. Sports offer a great opportunity to teach values like caring, honesty, respect and responsibility, and help improve self-esteem.

  • Youth Sports Programs build winners for life. We not only to teach sports skills more effectively but also to teach young people to become better adults.

  • YMCA Youth Sports is for youth of all ages and abilities. We provide instructional programs for children age 3 through high school and a value-based competitive program for children 8 years through high school.

  • We off the “games approach” to learning sports – a more enjoyable, effective approach.

  • Every child is a winner. We define “winners” as players who feel good about themselves, set personal goals and achieve them, help others succeed, give their best effort, learn new skills, and have fun. YMCA Youth Sports doesn’t remove competition from the sport; it just puts it in the proper perspective. Winning is important, but so is having fun, participating, learning new skills, and learning to respect officials, coaches, and the other team players. Parents are encouraged to participate as coaches, officials, and other capacities in addition to lending support to their participating child. Family events are also an important part of YMCA Youth Sports.
