Child Watch

Child Watch is a service for Family I and II facility members that allows them to pursue their own health and well being, knowing that their children are safe, secure, and cared for in a positive environment.

Ages

Child Watch is a service for parents who require short term care for their children. Children are permitted to attend as soon as they can sit independently up to age 5.

Allergies

We require that any allergies be brought to the attention of the Child Watch staff upon arrival. Please see the staff if you require further information.

Illness

Children who are sick will not be allowed in the Child Watch areas. Symptoms include, but are not limited to runny nose, diarrhea, fever and other contagious symptoms.

Parent Involvement

  • Parents who use Child Watch need to be aware of their responsibilities, to ensure that the very best care is provided.
  • Parents are required to sign their children in and out upon each visit for everyone’s safety. Children will only be released to the person who signed them in.
  • Parents must remain in the building while their child is in Child Watch.
  • To provide quality service and to ensure that the caregiver–to–child ratio is respected, parents must pick up children at the end of the their time limit.
  • Parents must ensure that children will not need medication. The Child Watch staff will not administer medication to children.
  • All personal belongings must be labeled and must be picked up each day as you leave. All belongings left behind will be donated to charity after 2 weeks.

Ratios

The YMCA provides staff to ensure quality care for all children. The child to caregiver ratio is determined by the staff and is on a first-come, first-served basis. Levels should not exceed 20 children to 2 adult staff members.

Snacks

Parents can provide snacks for children. The YMCA cannot provide food for children so a bottle or a small healthy snack is acceptable. Please label all containers. For safety reasons the following is a list of prohibited snacks:

  • Peanuts, peanuts products or nuts of any kind
  • Gum, candy or popcorn

Staff Certifications

Child watch caregivers are well qualified and competent. Each caregiver has certification in CPR and emergency procedures.
