Sky-Y Staff
We take pride in providing qualified staff that put the needs of your child first.  Chosen for their experience, maturity and dedication, our camp staff places the emphasis on the core values of the YMCA: Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. Every spring Sky-Y Directors travel to local colleges and universities looking for the very best.  Our summer staff are supervised by the Full Time Staff Team which has over 50 years of camping experience combined.  Staff applications are processed through an interview and thorough criminal background check.  The average age of our cabin staff is 18-21, we do have a few Junior Staff that have graduated from our Counselor-In-Training program.  All staff go through a week long staff training.  We train on camp topics such as Homesickness, Bullying, First Aid, Child Abuse Prevention and summer camp Programs.

Facilities
Cabins are grouped in a "Village" by gender and age located close to a bathroom.  With rustic yet modern cabins and shower facilities close by, Camp Sky-Y is perfect for campers of all ages to make new friends and experience fun and exciting activities.  Our cabins are set up with 12 bunks for 10 campers and two staff (based on age to ratio of staff as outlined by the American Camp Association).

Safety & Security
Located in the heart of the Prescott National Forest, Sky-Y has natural camp boundaries.  All staff are trained to approach individuals they do not recognize that are on our property.  All Visitors are required to sign in at the office as well as provide a photo ID.  Once they have signed in with the office they will be given a visitor's pass which will be returned once they check out.  All visitors are accompanied by a camp staff the entire time they are on the property.  Anyone who has not signed in will be escorted to the office.  In cabin at night, staff sleep in the middle of the cabin and near the rear door of the cabin.  This allows the staff to know when a camper leaves the cabin for the bathroom or if anyone else has entered the cabin.  Outside the cabin on the camp grounds, Senior Staff are on duty and roam the property and boundaries to insure the safety of everyone onsite.  In the event of an emergency medical personnel arrive onsite within 2-4 minutes.  We have a nurse onsite during summer 24 hrs. a day (excluding Saturday afternoon-Sunday morning)  Camp Staff are trained in CPR and First Aid.
