Water Aerobics/Fitness Classes

Water Fitness provides participants with a low impact and easily modified workout that fits individual needs.

Benefits of water fitness classes include:

  • Cardio respiratory endurance

  • Therapeutic resistance
  • A low impact environment
  • Help for those with special medical conditions or disabilities.
  • No swimming skill is required

Basic Program Types:

Shallow Water: Exercise between chest and navel water level. NO swimming skills are required. Classes are designed with a warm up, cardio respiratory workout, muscular endurance/toning workout, stretch and cool down. Some water equipment is used and will vary by branch.

Deep Water: This class is designed for a no impact workout combining muscular endurance with cardio and interval training. The class is conducted in deep end and will use flotation belts.

Arthritis Workout: This class is designed to provide a warm, buoyant, resistive workout that uses the properties of water to achieve flexion and rotation of the joints.

Other water fitness classes are offered, including specialty classes such as Active Older Adult and Prenatal and vary by branch. Please call individual branches for a more detailed listing of classes offered.
